About the event
Create, shape, and paint your own ceramic piece in a one-of-a-kind pottery experience inspired by ancient Maya tradition, set beside the breathtaking Lake Atitlán.
During this 1:15–2 hour guided group experience, a local Maya artist will introduce you to the fundamentals of pottery on the wheel, teaching you how to center clay the foundation of all ceramic creation. You’ll feel the rhythm of the wheel, connect with the material, and shape your piece by hand.
After working on the wheel, you’ll continue the experience by painting and decorating your ceramic piece, allowing you to express your creativity while learning about the cultural meaning behind traditional forms and designs.
This experience is designed for beginners, adults, couples, friends, families, and young creators (ages 4 and up). No prior experience is needed just curiosity and the desire to create.

This guided group workshop combines a pottery wheel experience with painting a ceramic piece inspired by Maya culture. You will also paint your Nawal and learn its meaning in a relaxed setting with views of Lake Atitlán. The 1.5–2 hour session is led by a local artist, and you will take home your painted piece as a unique souvenir.
